About the Owner

Welcome! We are a small family run business based in Maine. Jenna, is the curator, owner and founder. She is accompanied by her husband and two littles. Growing up in Maine, Jenna learned to appreciate nature and all that it has to offer. She came to learn that there was a lost appreciation for the cultivation of backyard, local crops. Her goal in creating the harvest basket is to reconnect people with nature and empower them to learn the art of gardening or support those local farmers who have achieved the art. She believes you can get so wrapped up in the everyday grind, that we forget the simple pleasure of digging in our gardens or hand selecting our fruit from the farmer’s market. She always had a dream to start a business, however it wasn’t until recently she was able to combine her entrepreneurial spirit with her passion to encourage more people to seek out local food sources.

Our Story

Newly established, the harvest basket works to obtain handmade items from artisans around the globe who have mastered their craft through tradition and culture. We strive to provide soulful products that serve as a vessel to connect you with the fruits of the earth. Collection and connection of nature’s gifts can come in many variations from harvesting with your own two hands in your garden, to visiting your local farmer’s market or even foraging in the forest. At the harvest basket, we strive to forge the connection between what nature has the offer and your dinner table. We want our products to encourage you to handpick your fresh veggies or juicy fruits.

While connecting at the harvest basket you will not only support the artisan that made the product but will also revitalize the art of supporting local.  We have extreme respect for the artisans and we do not carry anything that is mass-produced in a large factory where workers may be treated poorly. We have combined our Fair Trade items with locally sourced items. This strategy allows us to provide you with the best products to successfully harvest goods as you see fit. We want our customers to leave with a product that allows them to feel connected to those around them and grounded with the earth and the bounty it provides.

Meet the Artisans

All of the products we offer are handmade by global and local artisans. The love and artistic ability poured into each product has been passed down for many generations. We work with sourcing partners to ensure global products are sourced following strict Fair Trade standards which include fair wages, opportunity for advancement, community development, and environmental consciousness. The artisans, global and local, craft their products from their own home and communities, reducing the need for travel expenses, childcare, or discounting pricing.

Every unique purchase made from us has helped the artisans achieve independence and empowerment- thank you!
